The building's story
Sir Hugh Daly laid the foundation in 1917, and the Hall became the permanent home of the Society's library and lectures. Tagore spoke here in 1919; Gandhi visited in 1927; C.V. Raman presided as honorary president. The full architectural story, with the art the Hall holds, becomes one of the site's stories.
